A Ministry of Chapel By The Sea

For over a decade, a small but determined group has been working to serve lunches to school kids in Washington’s small coastal communities. It all began in 2002, when Phyllis Shaughnessy, a member at Chapel By the Sea Presbyterian Church saw the need for kids to continue to receive school lunches during the summer months. Through the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Phyllis and a group of volunteers started a program where they served 900 lunches the first summer, and soon developed into much more.
